a. Efficiency. Working with LingRoom’s platform is generally more effective than working with most traditional schools or online language platforms. If you secure a teacher via the LingRoom platform, you won't have the costs associated with traditional schools. Notably, you won’t have to pay for a physical location, rent, advertising, marketing, school administration, or other school costs that are, typically, included in the price of the course. With LingRoom, you pay for your personal teacher and nothing more. Direct lessons – an individual with a teacher or in a group with other students – are the most effective and proven way to achieve success in learning a foreign language. LingRoom offers a highly accessible and convenient way to search and book private language lessons. Make the most of your choice by selecting from a large database of teachers who offer a range of courses and have varying rates. This should make it easier for you to find the right fit for your particular needs. As a LingRoom user, you pay only for your learning.
b. Personal choice. Choose a teacher who is right for you. Make an informed and independent choice from a database of hundreds of highly experienced teaching professionals who have achieved at the highest level of education and come with excellent references. Try several teachers to find the teacher that is right for you. Change teachers depending on your needs. The teacher will teach what you want to learn, and the lesson will move at your desired pace. Lessons are tailored to your level, pace, and interests.
c. Learning comfort. Simplicity and comfort of usage. There is no need for specialist IT knowledge and there are no complicated settings to get to grips with – LingRoom’s platform is very simple and intuitive. The process is dynamic: a dashboard, calendar synchronization, easy access to materials, reports and statistics, and an inventory of lessons (with a balance and payments history) all work to support you and put you in full control of your learning.
d. Quality. LingRoom focuses on generating the highest efficiencies in its processes and on providing uncompromised quality. The platform has developed through use by professional language teachers and individuals who regularly face and understand the need for quick and effective learning of different languages.

a. LingRoom reviews each teacher’s application before allowing a new teacher to publish his or her profile. All applications are reviewed by LingRoom experts who are educators themselves. We accept teachers who, we are confident, will provide highly professional language courses for students.
b .All teachers registered on LingRoom:
i.Are natives or at an advanced (C1/C2) level in the language(s) they teach – proven by diploma or certificates
ii.Are expected to conform to our Teacher Policies and Code of Conduct
iii.Are admitted only after submitting an application that is then carefully reviewed by LingRoom experts
iv.Have verified professional teaching credentials
c. Teachers have the several indicators on their personal profile; this will help you determine if a teacher meets your requirements:
i.Rating – the average score given by other students to a teacher
ii.Total number of students taught by the teacher since being registered on LingRoom
iii.Total number of lessons given by the teacher since being registered on LingRoom
iv.LingRoom partnership status of the teacher
d. Teachers are required to write a personal introduction to tell students about themselves and their lessons.
e. Teachers are also advised to record a video introduction to introduce themselves — speaking in the language(s) they teach.
f. You can also check their previous experience, education, and certification. A check-mark alongside their profile means that LingRoom has verified the teacher's certificate.
g. Students are encouraged to leave comments and public feedback after a lesson. This can help you form an opinion about whether a teacher will be right for you

a. Before you schedule a lesson, select the teacher(s) you want to learn from: perform a teacher search and look at the profiles of a few teachers that you think would be a good fit. Each teacher is different so take time to read their profile, watch their Introduction video, and look over the student feedback.
b. Once you've completed step a), get in contact with a potential teacher.
c. Compose and submit a request to a teacher, informing them of your language learning goals and the type of lesson you are interested in. In addition, send a short self-introduction message to the teacher. It is advisable to contact more than one teacher so that you can have a few options. Although some teachers may respond quickly, others may take more time. It is also important to get a sense of which teachers fit your learning style.
d. Once you have chosen a teacher, select the course you would like to take.  Teachers offer different courses at different prices.
e. You will receive an offer of a trial lesson with your selected teacher(s) from the LingRoom platform; you will also be required to respond to the offer. Each teacher is free to decide if the trial lesson is free of charge or should be paid for. If the trial is not free of charge, you will be asked to pay for the trial lesson using LingRoom’s secure payment system.
f. Once you have confirmed your wish to have a trial lesson, you will receive a confirmation of the trial lesson from the teacher. The teacher must formally accept your lesson request and has 48-hours to either accept or decline your lesson request. If the teacher does not accept or decline your lesson request within this 48-hour period, the session request will automatically expire and you should repeat the teacher search process, i.e., from step a.
g. Once you have received formal confirmation from your chosen teacher about the lesson, you will be able to plan the date, place, and time of your trial lesson via the dashboard calendar.
h.Enjoy your trial lesson with selected teacher.
i. After your lesson, you can confirm via LingRoom’s mobile or web application that the lesson successfully took place and that you would like to continue lessons with the teacher.
j. Should you wish to continue, you will receive an offer from the LingRoom platform to purchase a lessons package with your chosen teacher along with a request to confirm and pay. You will be invited by LingRoom’s secure payment system to pay for your selected language lessons.
k. Once your payment is accepted, you will receive a formal teacher confirmation of the course you have purchased. You and your teacher will then be able to plan the dates, places, and times of your language journey.

Every tutor responds differently. LingRoom does its best to encourage teachers to respond promptly.

If your booked lesson does not take place, we will provide a full refund or a replacement teacher of your choice.

After the first trial lesson and, based on teacher’s assessment, you will receive a suggestion from your teacher about the number of the lessons you should take. A teacher may advise not only on the number of lessons but also on the duration of the lessons. Package payments guarantee the safety of your money as the teacher gets paid only after you confirm that each lesson took place.

Tutoring

Tutoring is a private lesson given by a tutor. Tutoring takes place outside of school as extra-curricular activities and usually helps to master or extend school material. Tutoring is receiving guidance or instruction by a tutor. Most often the tutoring relates to an academic subject or test preparation. This is in contrast to tutoring centers or tutoring provided through after-school programs. The service most often involves one-on-one attention provided to the pupil; otherwise, is called small group tuition, in which the tutor and a small number of pupils gather at one of their homes for tutoring.

Tutoring, services dispatch a qualified tutor directly to the client with no need to drive or go anywhere. Children get an individualized program. Not a predetermined one that all children of that age use, but one that is specifically designed for the child's unique needs. A tutor can address any special needs and work to ensure that the pupil is getting help in those areas that need the most attention. Due to the class size, a pupil may keep his doubt within himself to avoid any embarrassment in front of his classmates. Hence, a pupil would be more open towards his tutor than his school teacher. In home-based tutoring, we do not need to drive or go anywhere. A tutor can address any special needs and work to ensure that the pupil is getting help in those areas that need the most attention. You can also set your goals and objectives,it improves oral capacity to recite in class, develops capacity to think more with reasonable thoughts, and motivates the student when taking the exams.

The purpose of tutoring is to help students help themselves, or to assist or guide them to the point at which they become an independent learner, and thus no longer need a tutor.

There are many benefits to tutoring.

  • Heightens sense of competency/adequacy in conforming to the new role.
  • Encourages higher levels of thinking.
  • Permits more advanced students to study below-level material without embarrassment.
  • Increases motivation to learn in order to maintain the new role.
  • Increases ability to manage own learning and study strategies.
  • Increases subject-specific knowledge.
  • Increases related to general knowledge.
  • Increases understanding of the subject area.
  • Improves attitude toward the subject area.
  • Provides more empathy with students.

There are also many benefits for students who receive tutoring.

  • Offers more individualized, systematic, structured learning experience.
  • Provides greater congruence between teacher and learner, a closer role model.
  • Improves academic performance and personal growth.
  • Improves attitude toward the subject area.
  • Generates stronger effects than other individualized teaching strategies.
  • Motivates self-paced and self-directed learning.
  • Provides intensive practice for students who need it.
  • Improves self-esteem.

As a standard, you should take something to take a note, i.e. a notebook and a pen or pencil. It is also worth taking a textbook or other educational materials that you would like to show the tutor, especially if you want him to include them in the program of your future classes. For tutoring ordered via LingRoom, you don't need to take cash with you. All payments for tutoring are made online, via the convenient PayU transaction system.

1. Writing pen

You’re going to be writing: a lot. Whether it’s taking notes in class or writing essays.

I’d recommend choosing a pen that you enjoy writing with so that writing feels like less of a chore! I took this to the extreme at the start of my A Levels and bought myself a nice Parker pen. Given the amount you’ll be writing, then unless you’re willing to consistently stock up on ink and assuming you’re like me and struggle to take good care of your stationery for a whole 2 years, then I probably wouldn’t bother investing in anything expensive.

Instead, you could buy a small pack of uni-ball eye fine rollerball pens (click here for the amazon link!) and have handy a set of cheap biros as a backup.

2. Pencil

Having a pencil is necessary for subjects like art and maths. But pencils are also really handy to have for other subjects like English or history, where you’ll be analysing and annotating texts and may want to rub things out as you go.
You can also use pencils to go back over your notes and underline things you think will be important when you come back to revise.

3. Paper

This one’s a biggy!

You’ll be getting through a lot of paper, whatever the subject, so I’d really recommend buying notepads in bulk at the start of the year.

Given that you’ll likely be using ring binders for each subject, you should buy the paper that’ll slot in. To be on the safe side, I would recommend writing on A4 ruled paper with four holes. This will then fit into either a 2-ring or 4-ring binder, whichever you end up choosing.

At some point, you will also be using plain paper, or given worksheets that are not hole punched. Therefore, keeping a small hole punch with you, or having a standard hole punch at home, will come in handy.

You needn’t have a different notebook for each subject…but at the end of every lesson it’s a good idea to tear out the pages in your notepad and sort them into the relevant folder divide. This will keep your notepads empty and your folders organized, with everything in order and nothing missing when it comes to revision – the last thing you want to be doing before exams is hunting for loose bits of paper!

On top of your A4 notepads, you may also want to keep a smaller notebook or diary for your homework and to-do lists. You could even go one step further and invest in a student planner/ academic diary.

4 & 5. Ring binders & dividers

You should have at least one ring binder per subject and depend on how much content your subject entails, you may eventually need more.

8. Textbooks

You wouldn’t have thought that we’re living in the 21st century…but alas, every subject will come with its whole host of textbooks for you to lug around, unfortunately.

We don’t have too much advice for this one, because it’s so dependent on the language you’re studying. In essence, your teacher should have an idea about of the textbooks you’ll need and advise them out to you during your first lesson.

9. Water bottle

This might seem like a strange item to have on the essentials list, but really I’ve saved the best till last.

A recent study by the University of East London and the University of Westminster found that drinking just 300ml of water can boost attention by up to 25%. Just imagine, staying hydrated could enhance your attention and focus by 25% – that could be the difference between getting a grade C and a grade A – just from drinking enough water every day!

So it’s really worthwhile carrying around your own water bottle with you every day at school.

Online tutoring is the process of tutoring in an online, virtual environment or networked environment in which teachers and learners are separated by time and space. Online tutoring, as a reflection of the diversity of the wider Internet, is practiced using many different approaches and is addressed to distinct sets of users. The distinctions are in online content and interface, as well as in tutoring and tutor-training methodologies. Definitions associated with online tutoring vary widely, reflecting the ongoing evolution of the technology, the refinement and variation in online learning methodology, and the interactions of the organizations that deliver online tutoring services with the institutions, individuals, and learners that employ the services.

Online environments applied in education usually involve the use of learning management systems or Virtual Learning Environments such as Moodle, Sakai, WebCT, Blackboard. Online tutoring may be offered either directly through the virtual learning environment of a tutoring service or via a link in a learning management system (LMS). In the first case, the learner or his or her parents may be required to pay for tutoring time before the delivery of service, whereas many educational institutions and major textbook publishers sponsor a certain amount of tutoring without a direct charge to the learner.

Tutoring may take the form of a group of learners simultaneously logged in and receiving instruction from a single tutor, also known as many-to-one tutoring. This is often known as e-moderation, defined as the facilitation of the achievement of goals of independent learning, learner autonomy, self-reflection, knowledge construction, collaborative or group-based learning, online discussion, transformative learning and communities of practice. These functions of moderation are based on constructivist or social-constructivist principles of learning.

Pursuant to the Act of March 6, 2018, teachers can settle income from tutoring as part of unregistered (nieewidencjonowanej) activities. The basic condition for conducting such activity is that the income from this activity is not higher than 50% of the minimum remuneration applicable in a given calendar year.

For 2019, this amount is PLN 1,125,00. Another condition is no business activity during the last 60 months. A person who will carry out unregistered (nieewidencjonowanej) activities will not be required to register for social security and health insurance funds. Revenue from unregistered (nieewidencjonowanej) activities should be accounted for the annual tax return (PIT-36). There is an additional section for "non-registered activities" in which revenues from these activities should be reported.

You don't have to pay tax advances. In the annual tax return calculation, you can also deduct all costs strictly connected with the unregistered (nieewidencjonowanej) activities. These costs should be documented.

The main assumption for unregistered (nieewidencjonowanej) activities was to facilitate small-scale business, as well as to limit the operation of small businesses in the so-called gray area.

Tutoring in Poland is legal provided that the revenue obtained from it has been reported to the tax office and taxed. Pursuant to the Act of March 6, 2018, teachers can settle income from tutoring as part of unregistered (nieewidencjonowanej) activities.

It is also important that the teacher should not tutor the student he/she teaches on a daily basis at school. The Teachers' Charter does not explicitly prohibit such practice, however, similar action may be considered as a breach of the dignity of the teaching profession, in which case the law provides for disciplinary penalties for teachers.

As a home tutor, your priority is keeping your student, and yourself, safe. If you offer private tuition in your own home, it is your legal responsibility to ensure it is a safe environment in which to conduct business. ... It is not a legal requirement to be insured as a private tutor.

There is no doubt that online tutoring (usually via Skype) is significantly different from traditional face to face classes. Online tutoring is conducted differently, paying attention to other aspects of working with the student.

What is important when conducting this type of class? First of all, technical issues of the equipment we use. First, a computer with a large screen size. Thanks to this, you can divide the screen into several zones so that you can see the student, the screen is shared and additionally be able to send materials on a regular basis. No less important is the microphone and a good quality camera. Let us remember that only thanks to them it is possible to contact the student. Of course, a high-speed internet connection is also necessary to ensure a smooth and stable connection. In addition to technical issues, it is very important to maintain student interest and motivate them to interact. This type of class should not be a dry lecture, but rather an engaging conversation, interspersed with interesting presentations, boards, photos, audio materials, etc.

Practically anyone who represents a higher level of knowledge in a given subject than a potential student can be a tutor. There are no formal requirements for tutors. They do not obliged to have to have specific qualifications, diplomas or certificates, but what counts is their knowledge and experience. As always, the best recommendation for any tutor is satisfied students who have so far used or use the services of a given tutor. Usually, however, tutoring is provided by students or teachers who work in schools on a daily basis. Foreign language teachers is a separate group of tutors who are usually employed in several language schools and additionally conduct private lessons.

Yes, tutoring is taxed. Income from tutoring, which is another source of income (activities carried out occasionally) is declared only in the annual tax return, and the tax is paid once for the whole year. It is similar with unregistered business activities (działalności nieewidencjonowanej (nierejestrowej). Taxes are also paid once a year based on the tax declarations PIT-36 / PIT-36S.

Tutoring programs give students the skills they need to study and learn on their own so they can reach their goals both inside and outside of school. Tutoring can help your child develop better communication skills and build better relationships with peers inside and outside of the classroom. Tutoring is usually conducted in the form of individual classes, that is why tutoring is very effective - all the teacher's attention is focused on one student. Private lessons are not as stressful as lessons at school, so students are more likely to ask questions, talk about their doubts, and ask for additional clarification of the topic. Thanks to the comfortable atmosphere of the classes, they absorb knowledge faster. Usually tutoring program is tailored to the needs of the student and pace of learning: in-person or on-line.

Each additional hour of learning helps for better assimilation of knowledge. Tutoring can help strengthen subject comprehension, boost confidence, and build important learning skills. Tutoring gives students individualized attention that they don't get in a crowded classroom. This helps children who struggle to keep up, as well as those who aren't challenged enough. Of course, the most effective is tutoring conducted by an experienced teacher who will tailor the curriculum and the method of tutoring to the individual needs of the student. Tutoring can help you to master the school program, but can also significantly extend it by introducing additional topics that go beyond the school program. Tutoring can have a positive impact not only on the grades received at school, but also on the student's higher self-esteem and build motivation to continue learning.

The first tutoring lesson is best to start by learning about each other's preferences and expectations. It is good to have some questions you would like to ask each other to better understand what can be expected. It is always worth to talk openly about your preferences and what you would like to avoid or where you feel discomfort. It is very important to determine several technical issues - e.g. regarding delay or canceling class dates. The last, though certainly not the least important subject is to build a nice and friendly atmosphere - so-called "chemistry" between the tutor and the student. Such friendly enviroment will have a big impact on motivation and achieved learning outcomes.

Yes, a company can deduct a language courses from tax, but it must meet several conditions. The entrepreneur will pay a lower tax thanks to learning a foreign language if it is related to the business. Only courses that are relevant to your current job are deductible. So if you're an engineer, you're not going to be able to deduct courses in French literature. Specifically, the tax law requires that the courses help you maintain or improve skills needed for your present job.

It is necessary to properly document the expenses, preferably with VAT invoices. It is worth to collect all evidence, e.g. contracts with a language school or certificates, to prove the relationship between learning and business:, just e-mail correspondence in English or have a website in that language. And expenses for a specialist foreign language course, e.g. legal, medical or construction-related, should undoubtedly be included in tax deductible costs. If an entrepreneur plans to expand to Eastern or Scandinavian markets, for example, he/she can easily prove that learning Russian or Norwegian is a way of generating revenue. Importantly, tax regulations do not make the deduction of costs dependent on whether the entrepreneur actually wins the contract later. However, an entrepreneur must be able to show that he/she has made efforts for it. Also, an entrepreneur running a beauty or hair salon in a big city should not have problems with deducting an English language course because foreigners are a growing group of clients.

In the case if the teacher provides educational services on his own account and in his own responsibility, in the form of private teaching, then he can apply the VAT exemption for service provided. The teacher as it is defined by the Act On the Education System is a person with higher education and pedagogical preparation for teaching, undertaking work as a teacher. In addition, he/she must meet appropriate health conditions for the teaching profession and comply with basic, generally accepted moral principles. Private teaching services can be provided at any level of education. In the case of foreign language teaching, both teachers or persons providing such service or related service are benefiting from the VAT exemption.

Business

Registration on LingRoom’s platform is absolutely free, as is lifetime user access to LingRoom’s features and databases.

Our Key Account manager will be happy to provide detailed information about the LingRoom platform, benefits, and options of cooperation. There are two options: fill in the required form to request a meeting at a time and day convenient for you or leave your phone number and name so that our Key Account manager can contact you — within one hour — to arrange a meeting.

A two-party agreement (B2B) between your company and LingRoom Sp. z o.o. will need to be signed for the languages courses provided by LingRoom Sp z o.o. A draft agreement can be provided upon written request or we can use your company template.

a. Business potential. The high level of employees’ proficiency in foreign languages is indisputably a growing business trend that increases the potential of an organization.
b. Efficiency. Working with the LingRoom platform is generally more effective than working with traditional schools or online language platforms. If you get a teacher via the LingRoom platform, you avoid the costs of working with a traditional school. Notably, you won’t have to pay for a physical location, rent, advertising, marketing, school administration, or other school costs. With LingRoom, you pay for your personal teacher. You’ll find it very affordable to get personal language lessons as teachers charge their own rates; this means that you can pick a price that is within your budget. And you pay for only the lessons you take. Language learning in person or in groups with a tutor is the most efficient and proven way to succeed in learning foreign languages.
c. Personal choice. Choose a teacher that's right for company’s needs and targets. You can make an informed and independent choice from a community of highly educated and experienced teaching professionals, all of whom have excellent references. Choose from hundreds of teachers. You can also change teachers depending on your needs. Employees are taught in a way that best fits their company’s culture and style. Lessons are run at your desired pace. You choose the set-up of the course — learn in person or in groups — as well as the time and the place. The tutor can come to your chosen location — be it at your company premises or other locations.
d. Comfort of usage. There is no need for specialist IT knowledge, and there are no complicated settings on LingRoom’s platform. LingRoom’s platform is very simple and intuitive. Our Key Account manager will set up and configure your company profile,  help with preparation of  employee lists, and provide training and templates. He or she will be your point of contact, whatever the questions you might have. What’s more, LingRoom provides a 24/7 helpline.
e. Full control. LingRoom’s platform is dynamic: a dashboard, calendar synchronization, access to materials,  reports and statistics, actual lessons, and a balance and payments history all work to support your needs and give you full control. Reports and statistics can be customized in line with your business-specific and management requirements.
f. Quality. LingRoom focuses on ensuring the highest efficiencies in its processes and on providing uncompromised quality. The platform is developing fast, as a result of use by professional tutors and expatriates who, increasingly, require a means of acquiring different languages fast.

a.LingRoom meticulously reviews every teacher’s application before allowing a new teacher to publish his or her profile. All applications are reviewed by LingRoom experts who are educators themselves, and we only accept teachers who we are confident will provide the highest quality language lessons for students.
b.All teachers registered on LingRoom:
i.Are natives or at an advanced (C2) level in the language(s) they teach
ii.Are expected to conform to LingRoom’s Teacher Policies and Code of Conduct
iii. Are admitted only after submitting an application that has been reviewed and accepted by LingRoom experts
     iv.Have verified professional teaching credentials
c.Teachers have  several indicators on their personal profile; this is to help you determine if a teacher meets your requirements:
i.Rating – the average score given by other students to the teacher
ii.Total number of students the teacher has taught since being registered on LingRoom
iii.Total number of lessons the teacher has given since being registered on LingRoom
iv.LingRoom partnership status of the teacher
d.Teachers are required to write a personal introduction to tell students about themselves and their lessons.
e.Teachers are also advised to record a video introduction to introduce themselves — speaking in the language(s) they teach.
f.You can also check a teacher’s previous experience, education, and certification. If you see a check-mark alongside a teacher’s profile, this means that LingRoom has verified that teacher's certificate.
g.Students are encouraged to leave comments and public feedback after a lesson. This can help you to form an opinion of a teacher.

The company administrator(s) has full access to an administrator’s dashboard that contains each business student’s individual scorecards and progress reports. These reports can be printed or exported if needed.

LingRoom’s platform provides various reports. Tailored reports can be created upon request if required. This option can be presented to you by your LingRoom Key Account manager.

LingRoom’s platform guarantees an uninterrupted language learning process for your employees. A teacher can be replaced at any time, without any additional charges, upon a company administrator’s request. LingRoom will provide a temporary teacher replacement if there is a short time of absence. At LingRoom, maintaining quality and stability in the learning process are our priorities.

A range of tests can be provided upon request if needed. Your company will receive the test report(s) with comments from the teacher. This option can be presented to you by your LingRoom Key Account manager.
